1986 was the peak of reformation in the USSR. However, the prestigious Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, was not influenced by new trends at all and still preserved its tradition. Living with mother and grandparents, Borya Phishkin never knew who his father is. Borya loves disco music and dreams to be the top ballet dancer. Due to his height and clumsiness, Borya doesn’t perform well in the Dancing School of Bolshoi Theatre. He is often bullied until he realise that his father is the great Soviet ballet dancer Mikhail Boryshnikov who defected to Canada!
